FISHING

Loch Fyne has numerous wrecks, reefs and rock pinnacles. The easiest wreck to fish from a small boat is off Barmore Island and is an old steam vessel which lies upright and has a large conger eel residing in the funnel. This has been caught and released several times.

Some of the more common species caught in Loch Fyne include cod, pollock, whiting, wrasse, ling, dogfish and of course mackerel. There are no big fish (20 lb or more) being caught in Loch Fyne these days. A good size would be 6 lb.

My father who lives a few miles from Kilfinan View used to run 39ft dive and fishing charter catamaran called So Fyne before he retired and will always advise on where to fish providing lat/long co-ordinates and the best locations for shore fishing.
